Tips for throwing a ceremony in the sand

Being that you are probably planning your wedding in or around Palm Beach I'm sure that the idea of a beach wedding has crossed your mind....or perhaps you've envisioned your wedding photos being on the beach. Well, have you gone over the pros and cons of having a beach wedding? As a Palm Beach wedding photographer I have done tons of beach weddings and I've seen beautiful ones and I've been to miserable ones.

Here are some tips and tricks to having the perfect Palm Beach Wedding in the sand

1. Check the weather and sunrise/sunset on the date you have picked.....what's the percipitation like for that month? the ave temp? If you want the perfect lighting for photos right before sunset is ideal.

2. Try hard not to plan your wedding during the peak of hurricane season...you may end up disappointed, or you might just get blown away!

3. Think of your guests....do you have any elderly family members? Chances are walking through the sand may be difficult for them....perhaps you can have a ceremony on a dock or patio area over looking the ocean to avoid any tumbling guests.

4. Have you and your bridesmaids bought fabulous heels to wear? Guess what! They will end up off to the side during a beach wedding! Unless you like sinking and falling over.... try going barefoot or finding cute sandals

5. The heat....in the midst of a Florida summer can be pretty gnarly....do yourself a favor and don't wear a big poofy gown and don't make your fiance wear a big heavy tux. i 've been to weddings and had to airbrush all of the photos because all the guys were sweating horribly and the girls were glistening...and not in a good way. Also, keep in mind the sand is a darker color on the Atlantic side of FL and can get REALLY hot! Oh yes, and please hand out cold water bottles and fans to your guests! You can usually count on a bit of an ocean breeze, but don't rely on it.

6. Lastly, but more importantly...BUGS! If you plan on an outdoor wedding anywhere near the water in the early evening (especially in spring or summer) and you don't count on bugs, prepare to be bugged out of your own ceremony! Provide plenty of bug spray and light a bunch of citronella candles for ambience.

The Meaning of Your Wedding Colors

Looking for a Wedding Color Palette with Meaning?

Red
Red has traditionally been associated with courage and love, in China, red is the color of happiness and good fortune. In fact, white has traditionally been the color most preferred for wedding dresses in America, but the Chinese prefer to dress their brides in red.

Orange
Orange is considered a warm color, perhaps because it has evoked the feeling of fire. Warm subtle orange walls & decor stimulates the appetite and can reduce tension. However, as the orange color becomes brighter, it begins to take on a high energy feel. Watch out for caution cone orange!

Brown
Brown is another warm and comforting color, stimulating the appetite and actually making food taste better.

Yellow

Since it’s always been associated with the sun, yellow has traditionally been considered a cheerful color. Yellow is also the first color most people see in early spring, when the daffodils begin to bloom. Studies have shown that yellow is many people’s least favorite color.

Green

It’s associated with the new growth of spring, prosperity, and clean, fresh air, yet it can also carry a negative connotation, in terms of mold, nausea, and envy. Throughout the ages, green has most often been considered to represent fertility, and during the 15th century, green was the most popular choice of for the wedding gowns of European brides.

Blue
Because it’s associated with the color of the sea and the sky, blue has come to symbolize serenity and infinity. That’s especially true of the more greenish shades of blue, such as aqua and teal. On the other hand, cooler shades of blue can have a tendency to cause feelings of sadness.

Purple
Over the millennia, purple has been associated with royalty in Western civilizations, due to the difficulty and expense involved in producing purple dye, which was made from a particular species of mollusk shell. Even today, when purple can be produced just as inexpensively as any other color, the use of purple is still considered to represent elegance and sophistication.

Green Wedding Tips

Green Wedding Tips

1. Find a wedding dress that is made with vegetarian peace silk, organic cotton or hemp fabrics. Also, think about recycling a wedding dress from a friend or find one in our Shop & Sell page. They even make paper dresses..... I know a little weird but worth a shot if you want to help the planet!

2. Go with recycled rings - there is a lot of toxicity and cruelty involved in precious metal mining. www.GreenKarat.com

3. Avoid confetti and switch to natural confetti such as flower petals.

4. Set up a webpage to announce your wedding and email out invitations and thank you's rather than mailing paper which not only uses paper and ink but last time I checked mailmen aren't driving around smart cars or bicycles.
